Development at Week 39

At 39 weeks, your baby's brain is approximately one third of its eventual adult weight, and the myelination of nerve fibers that allows for fast signal transmission is still in progress. The placenta is continuing to pass antibodies to your baby, providing immune protection for the first months of life. Your baby is likely in the head-down position with the skull pressing gently against the cervix.

Next week

At week 40, your baby will be the size of a Watermelon.
