Development at Week 6

At 6 weeks, the embryo has a distinct head and trunk, and small limb buds are visible where the arms and legs will grow. The heart is now divided into two chambers and is beating rhythmically at about 100 to 160 beats per minute. The optic vesicles, which will form the eyes, and the inner ear structures are also beginning to develop.
