Your Baby is the Size of a Cherry

Week 9

Cherry

Length

2.3 cm / 0.9 in

Weight

2 g / 0.1 oz

Your baby is now officially a fetus and can make small, spontaneous movements that you won't feel for several more weeks.

Development at Week 9

At 9 weeks, the embryonic tail has completely disappeared and your baby is now classified as a fetus. The muscles are developing and the fetus is capable of small reflexive movements, though these are far too gentle to be felt. Teeth are beginning to form under the gum line, and the eyelids are fusing shut to protect the developing eyes.

Next week

At week 10, your baby will be the size of a Strawberry.
