Dua for Easy Delivery — The Supplication for a Safe Birth

Dua for Easy Delivery — The Supplication for a Safe Birth

دُعَاءُ تَيْسِيرِ الْوِلَادَةِ
As labor approaches, Muslim mothers across generations have turned to one short, powerful supplication: asking Allah to make the delivery easy and to complete it with goodness. Birth is in Allah's hands — and this dua places it there consciously.
The wording is simple enough to repeat between contractions, and complete enough to carry everything a mother hopes for: ease in the process and good in the outcome, for herself and her baby.

Dua for Easy Delivery

اللَّهُمَّ يَسِّرْ وَلَا تُعَسِّرْ وَتَمِّمْ بِالْخَيْرِ
Allahumma yassir wa la tu'assir wa tammim bil-khayr
O Allah, make it easy and do not make it difficult, and complete it with goodness.

When to Recite It

Recite it in the final weeks of pregnancy, at the onset of labor, and between contractions. Husbands and family members can also recite it on the mother's behalf. Pair it with slow dhikr — SubhanAllah, Alhamdulillah, La hawla wa la quwwata illa billah — to keep the heart anchored through each wave.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which dua should I recite during labor?

"Allahumma yassir wa la tu'assir wa tammim bil-khayr" is the most widely recited dua for labor — short enough to repeat through contractions. Many mothers also recite the dua of Yunus ("La ilaha illa anta subhanaka inni kuntu minaz-zalimin"), which the Prophet ﷺ described as a supplication answered in every distress.

Can I make dua in English during delivery?

Yes. Dua in your own language is valid and heard — especially in hardship, when sincerity is at its peak. The Arabic supplications carry the blessing of inherited wording, but Allah hears every language and every state.

What else does the Sunnah recommend for birth?

Remembrance and reliance: keeping the tongue moist with dhikr, asking those around you for dua, and trusting Allah's decree. After birth, the Sunnah practices include saying the adhan softly in the newborn's ear, tahnik, and the aqiqah on the seventh day — all covered in Hamila's Islamic birth plan.
