Baby development

Brain grooves and folds expand the surface available for developing neurons.
Reproductive anatomy may be visible on the mid-pregnancy ultrasound.
Regular movement can begin feeling like flutters or distinct kicks.

Your body

The uterus can press on the bladder, stomach, kidneys, and lungs.
Heartburn, swelling, shortness of breath, itching, and sleep changes can occur.
Hair and nails may grow faster and appetite can increase.

This week's checklist

Complete or schedule the anatomy scan recommended by your care team.
Ask whether your iron intake or blood tests need attention.
Start exploring pediatric care only if that suits your local healthcare system.

Call your care team

Report bleeding, leaking fluid, painful contractions, fever, or severe abdominal pain.
Seek urgent help for chest pain, fainting, major breathing changes, or a severe headache with vision changes or swelling.

Medical information, not medical advice

Every pregnancy is different. Use this guide for general education and follow the advice of your own maternity care team. Do not delay urgent care because of something you read here.
