Baby development

Eyelashes, eyebrows, and hair are visible.
Weight gain increasingly includes fat as well as muscles, bones, and organs.
The fetus still has room to change position often.

Your body

Hand or wrist tingling, swelling, itchy skin, and vision changes may occur.
Colostrum may begin leaking from the breasts.
Constipation and heartburn can remain bothersome.

This week's checklist

Begin discussing birth preferences with your care team and support person.
Complete glucose screening if recommended.
Ask before using massage, medicines, eye drops, or supplements.

Call your care team

Call promptly for bleeding, fluid leakage, painful regular contractions, fever, or a change in usual movement once you know the pattern.
Get urgent help for severe headache with vision changes, sudden swelling, chest pain, fainting, or severe abdominal pain.

Medical information, not medical advice

Every pregnancy is different. Use this guide for general education and follow the advice of your own maternity care team. Do not delay urgent care because of something you read here.
